CAVITY WALL EXTRACTION
Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI) has been around for more than 40 years. During that time the products and install methods used have become more advanced. After years of research energystore have developed a method to extract old CWI, allowing a house to be upgraded to modern forms of CWI such as energystore superbead.
If the insulation in your property is more than 20 years old or there is evidence that it isn’t working properly you may benefit from extracting the old insulation and upgrading it to energystore superbead.
How do I know if I have a problem?
Dampness and mould are the most common signs of problems.
This can present in a number of ways, but the most common forms are penetrative damp (water ingress from the outside in) and condensing damp (water vapour condensing on cold spots internally). If the cavity wall insulation has not been fitted properly (to the right density) it can become wet and this may eventually present internally. By contrast, condensation can sometimes occur when cavity wall insulation has not been fitted fully to the entirety of the cavity wall and cold spots remain. These areas attract warm air which then condenses on the colder surface and can encourage mould growth.
Over the years, or if you have noticed changes in your home your CWI could have become compromised.
How does it work?
This process usually takes less than a day and will involve drilling a few holes in the walls of your property to remove the old insulation. Once the old insulation and any debris has been removed, our technicians will check to ensure the cavity is clean. Once this check has been done, your property will be ready for an upgrade to energystore superbead within a few days.
HOW EXTRACTION WORKS
BOOK A FREE SURVEY
Call our friendly Ops team to book a free survey. The survey will involve a borescope inspection of your walls to see what is inside them. This will take around an hour and will involve drilling some holes in your wall.
CWI EXTRACTION
If you wish to proceed, we will arrange a CWI extraction. The process of removing the old insulation usually takes less than a day and involves drilling a few holes into the walls.
CAVITY CHECK
Once the old insulation and any debris has been removed, our technicians will check to ensure the cavity is clean. Once this check has been performed, your property will be ready for an upgrade to superbead within a few days.
